PhD Studentships in Architecture - University of Kent

The University of Kent has established a studentship fund of £1.5M to
support research students. This fund allows the University to provide
support for more than 100 students in any one year.

Applications are invited for University-funded Studentships for the academic
year 2007-08. These Studentships will cover tuition fees at the Home/EU rate
and, depending on the terms and conditions of the award, a maintenance grant
up to the full Research Council rate of *£12,600* per annum.

The 2 Studentships will be offered at Kent School of Architecture for one
year in the first instance, renewable for a maximum of three years subject
to satisfactory academic performance.

The Kent School of Architecture offers part- and full-time programmes
leading to MPhil and PhD research degrees.

Candidates must hold a good Honours degree (First or 2i) or a Master's
degree at merit or distinction in a relevant subject or equivalent. An
individual applicant may have a substantial track record in practice such as
taking a lead role in design of buildings of interest and relevance.

UK students will normally have their RIBA Parts 1 and 2 exemptions. Students
register for the MPhil in the first instance and may be upgraded to PhD
candidate status in accordance with the University regulations.

A particular feature of the KSA research degree programme is wide spectrum
of research and the possibility of undertaking research by design.

The studentship competition is open to all postgraduate research applicants.
UK, EU and overseas fee paying students as well as full-time and part-time
postgraduate research students are invited to apply.
