Vacancy : Spatial Planning Officer (SPO) for Meulaboh, Aceh Barat, NAD, Indonesia at The World Agroforestry Center

The SPO will take a key role in actively contributing to the spatial planning process in the district level, capacity building of government officials in spatial planning and in managing relevant data and information of the study areas in Aceh. These activities are planned to assist government line agencies, currently in Aceh Barat, in the process of efficient land use planning and co-ordination at the district levels.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage spatial and non-spatial data

Collect primary GIS data, secondary data from existing sources, collate and interpret and prepare technical reportsConduct basic GIS/RS analysis

Take an active role in the district land use planning for a sustainable development in Aceh Barat

Liaise with multi-stakeholders involved in spatial planning.Develop work plans for GIS related support work in the district in consultation with ICRAF officers, BAPPEDA and district line agencies.Monitor land use planning activities in relation to ICRAF projects in Aceh Barat and prepare regular progress reports.Develop a communication strategy and implement it in order to strengthen communication between ICRAF and partner institutions related to land use planning and project activities.Document the process and synthesize lessons learnt during the process.Support capacity development of government line agencies and partners in Aceh Barat on spatial planningProvide technical support on cartographic services and data sharing to ICRAF and partner colleagues in GIS and Remote Sensing technology in Aceh.Take an active role as a technical resource person as well as local organizer of GIS/RS trainings conducted by ICRAF.Develop communication materials for GIS and Remote Sensing application in land use planning in Indonesia and English.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

Must have at least the
following qualifications:
An S2 (MSc) with relevant experience or S1 (BSc)
with at least four years of relevant experience on community-oriented
spatial land use planning, trainings, field supervision and working with
NGOs and government institutions. Experience in GIS and Remote Sensing data
collection, collation, interpretation and use.Good networking skills and knowledge on local and national NGOs in Indonesia. Excellent communication skills both in English and Bahasa Indonesia (reading, writing, oral and presentation).Prepared to be based in the field

Terms of offer

This is a Nationally
Professional Fixed Term position with a competitive salary and benefits
package. The contract is for a period of 1 (one) year, with possibility of
renewal, subject to assessment of performance, and availability of resources.
